Eating Disorders: A Community Treatment Approach Educational Conference and Candlelight Vigil
-Post Event Information-

- OMNI Behavioral Health Eating Disorder Clinic developed the event Eating Disorders: A Community Treatment Approach Educational Conference and Candlelight Vigil
- Eating disorders deserve and demand serious public attention. The stigma associated with eating disorders has long kept families and individuals affected with these illnesses suffering in silence, has inhibited funding for crucial research, and has become
a significant barrier to treatment. Because of insufficient information, the public and professionals fail to recognize the dangerous consequences of eating disorders. It is time to spread awareness about the realities of eating disorders. OMNI chose the
beautiful location of Lauritzen Gardens on February 25, 2010 from 12:30pm-7pm to commence awareness. Lauritzen Gardens did a fantastic job catering the event with snacks and sandwiches for dinner for the 133 attendees during the Educational Conference. Lauritzen
Gardens provided a gorgeous setting for our Candlelight Vigil that sat approximately 120 individuals in front of a roaring fireplace and encapsulated by a botanical garden. An important key note to take is that the individuals that attended the Educational Conference
contributed a small portion to the members of the Vigil. Our Candlelight Vigil, open to the public, family, and friends, overflowed the space provided with loving support and care.
- Our keynote speaker was Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund who provided a candid personal encounter in her struggle and success against an eating disorder. The staff of OMNI Behavioral Health Eating Disorder Clinic deserve great recognition in their incredible effort
to create such a wonderful event in order to bring awareness of the treatment of eating disorders to the forefront.

- OMNI Behavioral Health is a unique community-based regional treatment center offering comprehensive, multidisciplinary approaches to providing treatment to people with eating disorders and concurrent psychological/psychiatric diagnosis. OMNI Behavioral Health is a
